Breast Lift
No tissue in the body can resist the effect of gravity. With aging, as a result of the loss of elasticity of the connective tissues, the body anatomy shows sagging/loosening in the direction of the gravity vector. It is inevitable for the breasts to experience this process as well. Depending on the genetics of the person’s connective tissue and a number of factors (rapid weight gain, pregnancy, breastfeeding, etc.), sagging of the breasts occurs as a natural part of the aging process, at an early age in some and later in others.
Breast lift, sagging breast lift surgery, known as ‘mastopexy’, describes a downward displaced breast tissue – a surgery to create a livelier and younger looking breast, in which the nipple is repositioned and the deformed breast tissue is reshaped. The most important thing to know here is that no breast surgery is permanent. Breasts, which have been restored to their young maiden form by mastopexy, or breast lifting surgery, may enter the sagging process after a long period of time, again with the effect of gravity.
Breast lift aesthetics; It is a combination of several different procedures / a combined surgery. In line with the patient’s expectation, the breast volume can be reduced simultaneously or, on the contrary, the breast can be enlarged in patients who demand a larger breast volume. The nipple, which has been displaced downwards by the effect of gravity, is moved and fixed to the position it should be anatomically higher, and the emptied and loosened excess breast skin is recovered and tightened. If the brown area around the nipple, defined as areola, is too large, it can be reduced to the size desired by the patient.
Who Are The Suitable Candidates For Breast Lift Aesthetics?
Any woman who has completed the age of 18 can have breast lift surgery. However, in general, the most suitable candidates for breast lift surgery are women who are emotionally stable, have normal general health status, and have realistic expectations after the surgery. Pregnancy status is important for this surgery. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are conditions that make changes in the existing breast skin tension and volume. In order to ensure the long-term permanence of the surgery, women with the possibility of pregnancy may be advised to postpone breast lift surgery. It should be shared with the patient that pregnancy stretches the breast skin due to the hormonal situation, but that the need for a re-lift may arise due to the relaxation that occurs after the breastfeeding process is over.
